  • 4 c. milk, scalded
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. white bread crumbs
  • 4 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
  • 3/4 c. sugar

Directions

    Soak bread crumbs in hot milk for 5 minutes.

    Mix in butter, salt and sugar; pour over eggs.

    Add vanilla and raisins, if desired, and mix well.

    Pour into greased 2-quart baking dish. Set dish in large shallow pan of hot water and bake at 350° until firm, about 50 minutes.

    Serve warm.
