  • 2 c. bread cubs (day old or older)
  • 4 c. milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 c. raisins (optional)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Scald milk; pour over bread.

    Add vanilla, sugar, salt, butter and slightly beaten eggs; mix well.

    Add raisins.

    Pour into greased casserole.

    Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon.

    Bake in 350° oven in pan of water for at least 1 hour, until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
