Ingredients
- 1 cup Bran Buds cereal or any 100% bran cereal
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1 tsp. grated orange peel
- 1/2 cup chopped dried apricots (3 1/2 oz.)
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 cup oat bran cereal
- 1 Tbs. ground flaxseeds
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350F.

2Lightly coat 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray and set aside.

3Lightly coat baking sheet with cooking spray; sprinkle with flaxseeds and walnuts; bake until lightly toasted, about 7 minutes.

4Set aside.

5Keep oven on.

6In large bowl, combine oats, oat and bran cereals, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.

7Mix well.

8Pour buttermilk into large glass measuring cup.

9With fork, stir in egg, oil and orange peel until well blended.

10Add buttermilk mixture to oat mixture and stir with rubber spatula just until moistened.

11Fold in dried apricots, then toasted flaxseeds and walnuts.

12Transfer to prepared baking pan, spreading evenly.

13Sprinkle top with sugar.

14Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes.

15Transfer to wire rack to cool completely, then cut into 12 bars.
