Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread, crusts removed
  • 2 lb. sausage, cooked and drained
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped onion
  • 8 eggs
  • 8 to 12 oz. grated cheese
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • mushrooms (optional)

Directions

    Grease 9 x 12-inch casserole dish.

    Line bottom with bread. Sprinkle cheese over bread.

    Add sausage on top of cheese.

    Beat eggs, 1 cup of milk, mustard, onion, salt and pepper and pour over bread.

    Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.

    This is a must!!

    Remove from refrigerator.

    Mix soup with remaining 1/4 cup milk and spread on top of casserole.

    Bake, covered, 1 hour at 300°, then uncovered for 30 minutes.
