Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread
  • butter or margarine
  • 1 lb. bulk sausage (mild)
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 c. half and half
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 c. grated sharp cheese (Cheddar)

Directions

    Remove crust from bread.

    Spread butter or margarine on bread. Place in casserole dish.

    Brown sausage and drain, then spoon over bread.

    Mix eggs well; add half and half, salt and pepper.

    Pour this mixture over bread and sausage.

    Top with grated Cheddar cheese.

    Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    Set out about 15 minutes before baking.

    Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until set.
