Ingredients

  • 2 c. raisins
  • 2 c. water or 1 c. water and 1 c. prune juice
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. nuts

Directions

    Boil raisins, water mixture and baking soda 2 minutes and let cool.

    Mix sugar, Crisco and eggs.

    Add raisin mixture, then add flour, salt, vanilla and nuts.

    Use 6 Number 2 tin cans greased and floured.

    Fill 1/2 full.

    Bake at 300° for 50 minutes, then at 325° for 10 minutes.
