- 2 lb. stew meat
- Pam for bottom of pan
- 4 c. boiling water
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic (optional)
- 1 medium onion
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 Tbsp. salt or less
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- dash of allspice
- 1 tsp. sugar
- carrots, sliced
- potatoes, cubed
Directions

1Thoroughly brown meat on all sides; add water, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion, bay leaves and seasonings.

2Simmer 2 hours; stir occasionally to keep from sticking.

3Add carrots and potatoes.

4Continue cooking 30 minutes or until vegetables are done.

5Thicken liquid for gravy.

6Serves 6 to 8.

7Serve in bowls with garlic spread French bread and a tossed salad and maybe fruit for dessert.
