- 1 cup flour
- 34 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 12 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 12 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 34 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 34 cup brown sugar
- 14 cup cocoa
- 1 34 cups boiling water
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, 2 T. cocoa, baking powder, and salt).

3Add the milk, oil, and vanilla and mix until smooth.

4Stir in the walnuts, if desired.

5Transfer the batter to a 9x9 baking pan (or roughly equivalent sized pan).

6Combine the brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa.

7Stir in the boiling water.

8Pour evenly over the batter.

9Bake about 30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center of the cake comes out clean.

10Serve warm.
