  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2/3 c. butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 2 Tbsp. Karo syrup or honey
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking powder

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Add Karo or honey and vanilla.

    Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder.

    Add to first mixture; add nuts.

    Grease two 8-inch square pans.

    Turn batter into pans and spread evenly.

    Bake at 325° for 32 minutes. Don't overbake.

    Cut into squares.

    You can sprinkle with powdered sugar if you prefer.
