- 1/4 c. margarine or butter
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. cocoa
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Melt margarine and shortening in large saucepan.

2Over low heat, stir in cocoa.

3Remove from heat and add sugar, eggs and vanilla, mixing thoroughly.

4Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir into chocolate mixture.

5Add nuts and mix well.

6Spread in well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

7Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

8Spread on frosting while brownies are warm.

9Cool; cut into 2-inch squares.
