   Melt cocoa and soda in warm water.

   Set aside.

   Cream Crisco and sugar.

   Add eggs, one at a time.

   Add vanilla.

   Add flour alternately with buttermilk.

   Add cocoa mixture.

   Bake in three greased and floured pans at 350° for 25 minutes.
