- 1 stewing hen
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 2 cans tomatoes
- 3 medium potatoes, diced
- salt and pepper to taste
- ham butt
- 1 tsp. each: rosemary and parsley
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 c. okra (optional)
- 2 c. lima beans or green beans
- 2 cans corn
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- dash of Tabasco sauce
Directions

1Cut chicken into pieces and brown in oil.

2Add 3 quarts water and cook until meat falls off bone.

3Remove, cool and pick off chicken from bones.

4Discard bones.

5Add raw vegetables to broth and simmer, uncovered, until beans and potatoes are tender.

6Stir occasionally.

7Add chicken and seasonings.
