Buffet Egg Casserole

  • 8 slices bread (remove crust and butter both sides)
  • 1 lb. bacon, browned and crumbled (could use sausage or ham)
  • 1 small onion, chopped and browned
  • 1 (8 oz.) shredded American cheese
  • 12 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper and salt
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard

Directions

    Arrange buttered bread in well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Cut bread to cover entire pan.

    Sprinkle cooked bacon over bread. Brown onion and sprinkle over bread, then the cheese.

    Mix eggs, milk, pepper, salt and dry mustard.

    Pour egg mixture over entire pan.

    Cover and refrigerate overnight.
