Ingredients

  • 2 lb. stew beef
  • 4 sliced carrots
  • 2 sliced celery stalks
  • 1/4 head cabbage, sliced
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 c. green beans
  • 1 onion, cut in pieces
  • salt, pepper and sugar
  • 24 oz. tomato or V-8 juice

Directions

    Grease an oblong casserole dish, large size.

    Cut in the vegetables and sprinkle with salt, pepper and a little sugar. Season the meat and mix into the vegetables.

    Pour over the juice; stir and cover with foil.

    Bake at 350° until done, about 2 1/2 hours.

    The meat should be very tender.

    This can also be baked at 300° for a longer time.

    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
