  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. another shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. buttermilk

    Cream butter and shortening.

    Add sugar.

    Beat well.

    Then add eggs, one at a time.

    Sift flour.

    Add salt, soda and baking powder.

    Add alternately with buttermilk to the first mixture. Add vanilla, then beat well.

    Pour into well-greased tube pan and bake at 325° about 1 hour or 1 hour and 15 minutes.
