- 3 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/3 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream sugar and butter.

2Add egg yolks one at a time and mix well.

3Dissolve soda in small amount of warm water, then add 1/2 of buttermilk.

4Add to mixture and mix well.

5Add rest of buttermilk.

6Add vanilla, then add flour.

7Beat 150 strokes.

8Beat egg whites and add last.

9Bake about 1 hour in 300° oven using angel food cake or Bundt pan.

10Cake may be eaten as is or may drizzle outside with powdered sugar icing.
