- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine, soft
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/3 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease bottom only of 8 x 4-inch or 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

3In large bowl, combine sugar and margarine; blend thoroughly.

4Add eggs; mix well.

5Stir in buttermilk. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.

6Add flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt and soda.

7Stir just until dry particles are moistened. Stir in nuts.

8Pour into pan. Bake at 350° for 55 to 65 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

9Cool in pan 15 minutes. Remove from pan, cool completely and slice.
