  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (heaping)
  • 14 teaspoon baking soda (rounded)
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk (may take a little more)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons oil

    Preheat over to 425 degrees.

    Put oil in skillet and heat while mixing cornbread.

    Mix dry ingredients and form a well.

    Add egg and beat in the well.

    Add enough buttermilk to achieve near cake batter consistency.
