- 1 yeast cake
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 lb. butter, melted
- 1 1/2 c. butter
- 6 c. milk
- about 2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.

2Beat egg until light.

3Add sugar, salt, butter and yeast.

4Beat well.

5Add milk and flour alternately until the dough is smooth and stiff.

6Knead well.

7Put in greased bowl in warm place and cover.

8Let rise until double in bulk (about 2 hours).

9Push down and allow to rise again. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.

10Place on greased baking sheet or in shallow biscuit pan covered in a warm place and let rise about 1 hour.

11Bake in 425° oven for about 20 minutes.
