- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 stick butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2/3 c. dried fruit
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients into bowl.

2Cut in butter until blended and crumbly.

3Gently mix in wet ingredients and fruit.

4(Use raisins, dates, apricots, prunes, etc., whatever you prefer.) Knead mixture a few times.

5Divide mixture in half and place on greased cookie sheet.

6Form circle about 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick. Score lightly on top, 6 pieces each.

7Sprinkle with sugar.

8Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.

9Keeps very well, wrapped.
