Butterscotch Bread Pudding Recipe

  • 3 c. Half-inch cubes white bread
  • 3 3/4 c. Half-and-half
  • 3 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 3/4 c. Dark brown sugar - (packed)
  • 3 lrg Large eggs
  • 3 lrg Egg yolks Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Butter a 2- to 3-qt baking dish and proportionately spread out the bread cubes.

    In a saucepan combine the half-and-half, butter, salt and vanilla and heat till warm over moderate heat.

    In a bowl whisk together sugar, Large eggs, and yolks and add in warm half-and-half mix in a stream, whisking constantly.

    Pour mix over bread cubes.

    Bake pudding in middle of oven about 40 to 45 min, or possibly till puffed and golden brown.

    Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
