  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. soft shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. hot water (not boiling)
  • nuts (optional)

Directions

    Beat together brown sugar, shortening and egg.

    Then mix the vanilla, cocoa, soda and hot water.

    Add to the first mixture. Now mix the flour and salt.

    Add to mixture.
  5. 5
    Then add milk.
  6. 6
    (Add nuts if you like or spread nuts on top of the frosting of chocolate powdered sugar.)

    Pour into 10 x 15-inch greased and floured cookie sheet.

    Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
