- 3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1/4 c. cinnamon red hot candies
- 8 small apples
- 1/4 tsp. red food coloring
- 8 wooden skewers
- 1 c. water
Directions

1In a heavy, deep 3-quart saucepan over medium heat, add sugar, corn syrup, candies, water and food coloring.

2Bring to a boil. Cook without stirring about 20 minutes or 290°.

3Meanwhile, insert skewers into apples part way through each of them.

4Grease a cookie sheet.

5When syrup is ready, remove pan from heat and swirl apples in hot syrup to coat completely.

6Work fast so syrup doesn't harden on you.

7Place them on cookie sheets to cool.

8If syrup does harden before you're finished, just place it back on the stove for a few minutes on a low flame.

9Cool apples for 1 hour before serving.
