Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 100 bit marshmallows
  • 1/2 c. chocolate bits
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Sift together, flour, baking powder and salt.

    Cream together, shortening and sugar, added gradually.

    Beat in one egg, continue beating 1 minute.

    Combine buttermilk and vanilla; add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mix.

    Fold in marshmallows and chocolate bits.

    Spread in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Combine butter, brown sugar, nuts; sprinkle over batter and bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.
