- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 c. water
- 3/4 tsp. peppermint extract
- 1 tsp. red food coloring
- 2 c. sugar
Directions

1Mix together cream of tartar, corn syrup, water and sugar. Stir over heat until sugar dissolves.

2Cook to 265° (very hard ball stage).

3Remove from heat.

4Add peppermint.

5Divide mixture in half.

6Add food coloring to one part.

7Pour on greased platters.

8Pull each part separately into ropes.

9Twist red part around white part.
-
10Cut into 8-inch lengths.

11Form into candy canes.
