  • 50 caramels or 14 oz. pkg.
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Directions

    Melt evaporated milk and caramels in double boiler; set aside. Mix cake mix, butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk and chopped walnuts.

    Press 1/2 of mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake for 6 minutes at 350°. Sprinkle chocolate chips over this and then the caramel mixture over this.

    Crumble (if too moist, just press and put on top) rest of dough over caramel mixture.

    Bake for 15 to 18 minutes at 350°.
