  • 50 caramels
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Directions

    Melt the caramels and 1/3 cup milk; set aside.

    Combine the cake mix, butter, 1/3 cup milk and nuts.

    Pat 1/3 of batter into 9 x 12-inch pan.

    Bake 6 minutes at 350°.

    Spread the chips over the baked base.

    Pour caramel mixture over chips.

    Pat remaining batter over caramel layer.

    Bake 15 to 18 minutes.

    Cool slightly and put in refrigerator to set caramels.

    When set, remove.
