Caramel Corn

Ingredients

  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine (half of each is good)
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
  • dash of salt
  • 8 qt. popped corn (popped with no oil or salt)

Directions

    Mix sugar, syrup and butter/margarine in a saucepan.

    Bring to boil, reduce heat and cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

    Remove from heat; add baking soda, cream of tartar and salt.

    Pour over popped corn and mix thoroughly.

    Place in large uncovered pan (about 18 x 12 x 2 1/2-inch).

    Bake in low oven (200°) for 1 hour.

    Remove and spread on waxed paper or foil and separate into bite sized pieces.

    Store in covered container.
