  • 2 Boxes (9 ounces ea) origional ritz bits crackers
  • 1 Cup nuts any type you like
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1 C granulated sugar
  • 1/2 C light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda

    preheat oven to 260 degrees. Combine crackers and nuts in a large shallow GREASED (or sprayed) cookie sheet. In a 2 qt saucepan bring butter, sugar and corn syrup to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla and baking soda. Pour caramel mixture over crackers and nuts. stir well. Bake 1 hour stirring evry 15 minutes. Pour onto waxed paper and break apart. allow to cool. Store in airtight containers. makes approx. 9 cups.
