- 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans or 3/4 cup walnuts
- FILLING
- 24 caramels, unwrapped
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup margarine
Directions

2Preheat oven to 350°.

3Combine flour, sugar, and egg.

4Cut in 1/2 cup margarine until crumbly.

5Stir in nuts.

6Reserve 2 cups of this crumb mixture.

7Press remainder firmly on bottom of greased 9x13 inch pan.

8Bake 15 minutes.

10Meanwhile, in heavy saucepan, over low heat, melt caramels with sweetened condensed milk and 1/4 cup margarine.

11Pour over prepared crust and spread evenly.

12Top with reserved crumb mixture.
