- 4 qt. freshly popped corn
- 1 c. firmly packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. light or dark corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Spread popcorn in a large shallow roasting pan. In a heavy 1 1/2-quart saucepan, stir together sugar, margarine, corn syrup and salt.

2Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.

3Continue cooking without stirring for 5 minutes.

4Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda.

5Pour corn syrup mixture over popcorn.

6Stir to coat well.

7Bake in 250° oven uncovered 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

8Break apart when cooled and store in tightly covered container.

9Makes 1 pound.
