  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. sweet milk

    Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar thoroughly. Gradually add sugar.

    Continue creaming.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.

    Sift baking powder with flour; add alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla and blend well.

    Turn batter into a well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake at 325° for 90 minutes or until cake test done.

    Cool in pan 15 minutes before turning out of pan.
