- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions

1In large heavy skillet, heat sugar over very low heat.

2Stir constantly until melted and light golden brown.

3Remove from heat. Gradually stir in 1 cup hot water; bring to boiling point. Reduce heat and simmer until mixture thickens slightly or reaches 228° on candy thermometer.

4Remove from heat.

5Add butter, salt and vanilla.

6Let cool.

7Serve as a dressing over dessert.
