Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. softened butter or margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 oz. melted chocolate
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 18 vanilla caramels or candied cherries, cut in half
  • 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 oz. melted chocolate
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. hot water

Directions

    Mix butter, sugar, egg, chocolate, milk and vanilla.

    Mix in remaining ingredients on low speed to soft dough, scraping bowl constantly.

    Halve the dough.

    Chill for 1 to 2 hours.

    Heat oven to 400°.

    Mold dough by rounded teaspoonfuls around caramel halves; place on ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake 7 minutes; cool. Blend remaining ingredients.

    Swirl cookies in chocolate glaze.
