- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 (16 oz.) pkg. brown sugar (2 1/4 c. packed)
- dash of salt
- 1 c. light corn syrup
- 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Butter a 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

2Melt the 1 cup butter or margarine in a heavy 3-quart saucepan.

3Add brown sugar and salt; stir thoroughly.

4Stir in corn syrup.

5Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly.

6Clip candy thermometer to side of pan.

7Cook and stir over medium heat to 245° (firm ball stage).

8Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.

9Pour into buttered 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

10When cooled, cut into squares.

11Wrap pieces individually in clear plastic wrap.

12Makes about 2 1/2 pounds.
