- 1 small onion, minced
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- 1/4 tsp. seasoned pepper
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. half and half
- 4 c. diagonally sliced, scraped carrots, cooked and drained
- 6 slices American cheese
- 2 c. buttered fresh bread crumbs
Directions

1Saute onion in melted butter.

2Stir in flour, seasoned salt and pepper.

3Gradually add milk and half and half, stirring constantly.

4Arrange a layer of carrots in a 2-quart casserole; place 3 slices of cheese over carrots.

5Repeat layers and pour sauce over all.

6Top with bread crumbs and bake at 350°, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes.
