Ingredients
- 5 beef or lamb bones
- 4 c. water (add more when needed)
- kosher salt
- freshly ground pepper
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 lb. carrots
- 1/2 lb. sweet or white potatoes
- 10 to 12 prunes (optional)
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 recipe Knaidlach (optional)
Directions

1Cook bones in water for at least 1 hour with salt, pepper and onion.

2Skim fat off top.

3Peel and slice carrots.

4Peel and cut potatoes.

5Add prunes and sugar to pot.

6If Knaidlach are used, place on bottom of pot between bones in the liquid.

7Then, add all vegetables.
-
8Cover tightly and cook all together for at least 1 hour over low heat.

9Serves 8.
