- 1 medium cashaw
- 1/2 c. water
- 3 to 4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. coconut
Directions

1Peel off green skin of cashaw.

2Cut into small squares and place in boiling water. Lower flame and allow to simmer until tender.

3Remove from flame and add butter, sugar, vanilla flavoring, nutmeg and flour.

4Mix to desired consistency. Fold in coconut last.

5Pour into pie crust.

6Bake in a 400° oven for 35 to 45 minutes.
