- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water with shortening and sugar.

2Add salt.

3With mixer, blend in 1/2 the flour until well mixed.

4Add rest of flour and mix well.

5Cover with dish cloth and let rise until double in bulk (about 50 minutes).

6Beat down dough with a spoon, at least 25 strokes.

7Spoon into a lightly greased, 2-quart casserole or loaf pan.

8Let rise again until double in bulk.

9Place in a cold oven, set at 375° and bake 45 to 50 minutes.
