Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • 3 slices bacon, diced
  • 1/2 c. diced mushrooms
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (16 oz.) can Italian-style peeled tomatoes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • cooked pasta
  • Parmesan cheese

Directions

    In a large skillet, brown ground beef, pork, bacon, mushrooms and onion.

    Add tomatoes, bay leaf, garlic, basil, salt and pepper.

    Simmer 1 hour, adding water, if necessary.

    Add tomato paste and simmer an additional 15 minutes.

    Remove bay leaf.

    Pour sauce over cooked pasta and top with grated Parmesan cheese.

    This is best if prepared the day before, refrigerated overnight and heated up the next day.
