- 7-8 cups flour - 1 1/4 cups warm water - 2 pckg yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water - 1/3 cup sugar - 1 tbsp honey - 3/4 cups liq shortening - 4 eggs - 1 tbs salt
Directions

1beat eggs slightly - add shortening, sugar, honey, salt, dissolved yeast & 1 cup flour - mix thoroughly & add remaining flour & water - mix well - knead in bowl until smooth & elastic - cover & let rise to double - punch down & knead again - cover & let rise again - appr 1 hr until double in size - form into braid - let rise on pans 45 mins - brush c beaten egg yolk & sprinkle c poppyseed if desires - bake 30 mins @ 350 or 1 hr 15 min & 300
