- 7 to 7 1/2 c. wheat flour
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 c. water
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. butter
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 Tbsp. water
- poppy seed
Directions

1In large bowl, combine 3 cups flour and yeast.

2In saucepan, heat 2 cups water, sugar, butter and salt just until warm (115° to 120°) and butter is almost melted.

3Stir constantly.

4Add flour mixture; add 3 eggs.

5Beat at low speed of electric mixer 1/2 minute, scraping bowl.

6Beat 3 minutes at high speed.

7Stir in as much of the remaining flour as you can; mix in with a spoon.
