  • 2 tsp chinese five spice powder
  • 4 1/3 lbs beef spare ribs
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 None long red chili, finely chopped
  • 4 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup char siu sauce
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 None scallions, thinly sliced

Directions

    Rub five-spice powder all over beef. In a 6-quart pressure cooker, heat oil and cook beef, in batches, until browned. Remove from cooker.

    Add garlic, chili, ginger, char siu sauce, orange juice and sugar to cooker and stir to combine.

    Return beef to cooker and secure lid. Bring cooker to high pressure, then reduce heat to stabilize pressure and cook 45 mins.

    Release pressure using the quick release method and remove lid. Transfer beef to a serving tray and cover to keep warm. Skim excess fat from sauce mixture and season to taste.

    Serve beef drizzled with sauce mixture and topped with scallions.
