Ingredients

  • 2 c. grated extra sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 lb. butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 3/4 c. flour (more if needed)
  • beaten egg white (optional)
  • sesame seed, poppy seed or chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

    Mix all ingredients together with fingers.

    Form dough into a 1 1/4-inch roll.

    Chill.

    Slice roll into 1/4-inch slices and arrange on cookie sheets.

    Before baking, slices may be brushed with egg whites and sprinkled with sesame seed, poppy seed or chopped nuts.
