  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm milk, scalded and then cooled
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour (if using self-rising flour, omit salt)
  • 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2/3 c. margarine

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water in a 2 1/2-quart bowl.

    Add milk, 2 eggs, salt and 1 cup of flour.

    Beat on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.

    Beat 2 minutes on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally.

    Stir in remaining flour, cheese and pepper. Scrape bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place until double, about 40 minutes.
