- 1 baguette
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup finely grated Gruyere or asiago cheese

1Preheat the broiler.

2Cut the bread on the bias into 18 slices one-quarter inch thick.

3Arrange the slices flat on a baking sheet and place them under the broiler about four inches from the source of heat.

4Broil for 30 seconds, or until golden brown.

5Turn the slices over and brush with the olive oil.

6Sprinkle the center of each slice with the grated cheese.

7Return the slices to the broiler, and broil until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
