- 1 large pkg. pitted dates, chopped
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. margarine
- 8 oz. grated cheese
- 2 c. flour
- fine chopped pecans (optional)
Directions

1Cook dates, sugar and water over low heat, stirring constantly until soft.

2Cream margarine and cheese together; blend in flour. Chill at least 1 hour (work with a small amount of dough at a time).

3Roll 1/2-inch thick on lightly floured board; cut into rounds.

4On half rounds, place 1 heaping teaspoon date filling. Cover each with another round of pastry.

5Press edges together with fork.

6Bake in 350° oven for 15 minutes.
