  • 16 slices thin firm white bread
  • 1 c. sharp shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Remove crusts; cube bread. Butter a 9 x 13-inch Pyrex dish. Put a layer of bread, then cheese; repeat.

    Melt butter and cool. Beat eggs, milk, salt and cooled butter.

    Pour over bread and cheese.

    Refrigerate overnight.

    Bake at 400° for 45 minutes.
