- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 2 1/2 c. sharp New York State Cheddar cheese, grated
- 3/4 stick oleo or butter
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- dash of red pepper
- 1/3 c. cold water
Directions

1Grate cheese and cream with oleo.

2Sift other ingredients and add to cheese.

3Add cold water and mix well.

4Form into a ball with fingers and put in cookie press.

5Using the jagged, 1-inch plate, push mixture onto ungreased baking sheet.

6If mixture is too stiff, add a little more cold water into press.

7Each cheese straw should be about 3-inches long.

8Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.

9Remove at once to cooling rack.

10Makes 5 to 6 dozen.
