  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 3 Tbsp. bacon drippings
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 6 small onions
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. water (added as needed)
  • 1/4 c. Parmesan
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak

    Cut steak into pieces; pour to 1/2-inch thick.

    Combine egg to milk and crumbs with salt and pepper.

    Dip steak into egg bath, then into bread crumbs.

    Brown meat in drippings.

    Add water; sprinkle on oregano.

    Place 2 tablespoons of cheese on each piece. Put onions on meat.

    Cover and cook at 325° for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
